General comments
Dexamethason starten 15-20 minuten vóór of gelijktijdig met antibiotica en stoppen indien andere verwekker dan pneumokokken.
Bij positieve kweek therapie aanpassen
Als bij kinderen de kweek na 48 uur negatief is, cetriaxon/cefotaxim continueren, bij volwassenen versmallen naar monotherapie amoxicilline, gedurende 14 dagen
